We dove headfirst into a fascinating movie night and panel discussion at Jack Black’s Brewery. The documentary “Wade in the Water” took centre stage, exploring the multifaceted relationship between Black people and water throughout history.
Sure, surfing is a major focus, highlighting the under-recognized achievements of Black surfers. But the film dives deeper, exploring themes of access, representation, and the cultural significance of water in the Black community.
Our team member Amir, a seasoned sailor, joined the panel discussion. His background offered a fresh perspective, drawing connections between surfing and sailing and emphasising the importance of diversity in water activities.
The evening fostered a spirit of community and a deeper understanding of the Black experience in water. We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate in such an inspiring event and look forward to future collaborations that promote inclusivity in water sports and beyond.
