Building Futures with Small Boats
Live now on our Clean Sailors podcast 🎧
Dear Sailors,
There’s a reason so many of us feel better near the water.
As the body of research around Blue Health continues to grow, we better understand that time spent on or near water has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and depression — promoting emotional resilience and improved mental wellbeing.
For children and young people, the impact can be immediate, life-changing and long-lasting: teamwork, confidence-building, inclusion, self-esteem… and bigger still – dreams, hopes and ambitions.
In this latest episode of our Clean Sailors podcast, I’m joined by Greg Bertish, Founder of The Little Optimist Trust & Sailing Therapy Academy in Cape Town.
Greg shares what becomes possible when young people are given safe, supported access to the sea and why these experiences can be life-shaping, particularly for young ones from marginalised backgrounds and experiencing the water for the very first time.
