The Kronendal Primary School library was buzzing with excitement on Monday, August 3, as pupils from Kronendal Primary and Valley Road Pre-Primary were taken on a journey of adventure, courage and optimism.

The special storytelling morning featured author, adventurer and philanthropist Greg Bertish, who shared stories from his travels and introduced the children to his inspiring book and tiny sailing boat, The Little Optimist.

But The Little Optimist is about far more than a boat. Its story carries a powerful message for children – that no matter how small you may feel, you can still dream big, overcome challenges, and make a difference.

Bertish also spoke about his philanthropic work and the incredible journey behind The Little Optimist, giving the young audience plenty to think about, smile about and dream about.

The visit formed part of Optimist Week, which celebrates positivity, perseverance, kindness and the belief that challenges can be overcome when we choose to keep moving forward.

For the children, it was a morning filled with stories, laughter, adventure and inspiration – proving that sometimes, the smallest boat can carry the biggest dreams.

Story time had Valley Pre-Primary eagerly awaiting every new page from the book.
