Train the Trainer: Understanding Trauma with Hope House

On the 18th of August we had a meaningful day of learning, connection and growth as we came together for a Train the Trainer: Trauma Training with Hope House.

The training brought together members of the Roxy Davis Foundation, Hout Bay Yacht Club, Hout Bay Soccer Club, Laureus and The Little Optimist to learn more about trauma, how it affects children and young people, and how we can better support those we work with.

Working with children means that we often encounter young people who have experienced difficult and sometimes painful situations. This training reminded us that behind every behaviour is a story, and that creating safe, supportive spaces can make a powerful difference.

The session gave us an opportunity to learn practical tools, share experiences and strengthen our understanding of how to respond to trauma with compassion, patience and empathy.

A big thank you to Hope House for equipping us with knowledge that we can take back into our organisations and communities. Together with our partners, we continue to build safer spaces where children can feel heard, supported and valued.
When we train the trainers, we strengthen the people who support our children. And when we understand trauma, we can respond with hope. 💙
