A nervous but eager group joined us on 15 July at The Little Optimist Sailing Academy to learn and go on a new adventure. The boys listened carefully to the stories that were told with a warm cup of hot chocolate – generously donated by Importers Coffee.

For many, it was their first time ever stepping onto a sailboat. Guided by the friendly and patient Little Optimist Team, the boys were introduced to the little sailing dinghy. They learnt about water safety, parts of the boat and tacking drills on land. In no time the boys were sailing in 3’s – supporting each other as they navigated the canals in the light breeze.

The boys couldn’t wait to announce that they have officially sailed their own boat as they all disembarked. Prize giving elevated their spirits as they could not wait to receive their medals and certificates. One by one they went up and felt as if they could do anything and they promised to never give up. Their day was filled with joy and learnings that they’ll now take with them home and spread the message and hope.
