Offshore Durban To Cape Town Sailing Trip.

When one thought became reality. So far throughout my Sailing career I have never had an opportunity to do a boat delivery, as well as experience flying. I was excited when we got the opportunity to do both.

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartful thanks to Bruce Tedder and The Little Optimist for creating this journey for the 4 of us. From the moment we set sail, I was captivated by the beauty of the open ocean water and the joy of being out at sea. There were mostly good days but also some not so good days.

My main highlights were getting to see beautiful dolphins, amazing sunset and sunrises. The day we left Durban for East London we had a nice meal from our Skipper, Dealtry, but 1 – 2 hours into sailing I had terrible sea sickness – this was a bad experience. Another bad experience was we nearly colliding with a cargo container ship, but we got past safely.

Over all the team worked well together. Everyone did what was required of one another, we had 4-hour sleep time shifts which took getting used too. There was beautiful scenery at Cape Agulhas. The whole journey from start to finish proved to me that it will not be for everyone to enjoy but the goal or aim is that when you start something it’s best that you finish it.

I have learned so much from everyone and I appreciate all the effort everyone put in to making this experience happen for us.
