A special day for the Grade 8 boys from Heideveld as they arrived at The Little Optimist to experience sailing for the very first time.

From the moment they stepped onto the dock, you could see the excitement in their eyes. Some were nervous, some were confident, and some just couldn’t wait to get on the water!

Once the boys climbed into their boats, the smiles said it all. They learned how to steer, balance, and trust the wind. The instructors guided them with patience and encouragement, helping them feel safe and supported.

What stood out most was how quickly they relaxed and started enjoying the moment. There was laughter, teamwork, and a lot of brave attempts as they tried something completely new.

By the end of the session, the boys were filled with pride. Many said they never thought they would ever get the chance to sail — and now they can’t wait to come back.

The Little Optimist gave them more than just a sailing lesson; it gave them confidence, joy, and a memory they’ll carry with them for a long time.
