This past week marked a special milestone as we officially launched our very first pilot site at Zeekoevlei. The day was filled with excitement, energy, and a spirit of unity as children from two different schools came together to experience the joy of sailing for the very first time.
What made the day so meaningful was not just the thrill of being out on the water, but also the connections that were built. In just a short space of time, children who had never met before were laughing, learning, and working together. The boats became more than just a space for sailing—they became places of friendship, teamwork, and discovery.
The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. Every child expressed how much they enjoyed the experience and, even more importantly, how eager they are to return for more sailing adventures. Their smiles and excitement reminded us why creating opportunities like this is so valuable—it gives children the chance to step out of their usual environments, try something new, and connect with others in a meaningful way.
The Zeekoevlei pilot site has already shown the potential it has to bring children closer together through the simple yet powerful act of sailing. This is just the beginning, and we are looking forward to many more days filled with learning, fun, and friendship on the water.
Thanks to our committed sponsors – Two Oceans Marine, Italtile, Southern Wind and Ullman Sails we will have many more sails, many more smiles, and a growing community at Zeekoevlei Sailing Centre.
