During the April school holidays, The Little Optimist Sailing Academy hosted an extraordinary 5-day Multi-day program for children from Heideveld and what an unforgettable journey it was!

From the classroom to the Canal, every moment was packed with fun, energy, and hands-on learning. The excitement kicked off right away, for many of the kids, riding the elevator was an exciting experience, and their faces lit up with wonder as they watched the world rise beneath their feet!

They dove into the world of sailing, learning about the different parts of a sail boat and the various types of boats. The kids lit up as they learned how to rig a sail, tie knots like pros, and grasp the basics of water safety, all guided by our amazing sailing instructors.

One of the highlights was the mini regatta, a fun boat race where each team member got the chance to sail on their own before passing the “baton ” to the next. There were energetic games and laugh-out-loud moments throughout, keeping the vibe high all week.

They even took on a mini quiz, completing The Little Optimist Mantra, a powerful reminder of courage, hope, and believing in yourself.
More than just learning to sail, these children discovered teamwork, kindness, and the thrill of trying something new.
