Woman’s Day Sanitary Drive: 19,432 Sanitary Pads Collected to Support Women in Need

During the months of July and August, The Little Optimist Trust in collaboration with HIIT Fitness hosted an incredible Sanitary Drive, bringing together the gym community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women experiencing homelessness in Cape Town.

Thanks to the generosity of HIIT Fitness clients, as well as one particularly generous client and his company, an incredible 19,432 sanitary pads were collected.

One client, together with his company – Via Maris Shipyard, made an extraordinary contribution of over 15,000 sanitary pads, helping to make this initiative an overwhelming success.

All of the sanitary pads collected have been donated to Girls with Wiings, an organisation that supports homeless women in Cape Town.

Access to sanitary products is something many of us take for granted, yet for women living on the streets or facing extreme financial hardship, these essential items can be difficult to access. Period poverty affects dignity, health and wellbeing, making donations such as these incredibly important.

We are deeply grateful to HIIT Fitness, its wonderful community of clients, and everyone who contributed to this campaign. Your generosity will provide much-needed support and dignity to women who need it most.
