Zeekoevlei – JP21 – 09 October

From the moment the kids arrived, there was a buzz in the air. Many of them were stepping onto a sailboat for the very first time. After a brief orientation on safety, sailing basics, and how to work with the wind, the children were kitted out with life jackets and paired with experienced skippers and instructors.

As sails went up and boats gently glided onto the water, initial nerves quickly gave way to joy. The kids quickly adapted, learning to steer, tack, and work as a team. Zeekoevlei — with its calm waters and surrounding natural beauty — proved the perfect classroom.

More Than Just Sailing

The day wasn’t only about learning a new sport. It was about confidence, courage, and connection. Watching the kids overcome initial fears, support one another, and light up with pride as they took the tiller was a highlight for everyone involved.

Laughter echoed across the water, spontaneous songs broke out on deck, and friendly races added a spark of fun competition. For a few hours, the lake became a place where anything felt possible.
