Dancing with Tristan Hartmann, 5 June 2026

Have you ever experienced the kind of happiness that can not be put into words… only felt?”” Well, the Little Optimist Sailing Academy has done it again, this time trading dinghies for dancing shoes with the help of our very special dance instructor, Tristan. ✨🩰

Earlier this month (5 June), we had the absolute privilege of spending the afternoon with some of our young friends from Heideveld. The girls were truly stoked! For many of them, it was their very first time visiting the city, their first time stepping into a dance studio, and their first time dancing with a professional dancer.

It was about more than just dance. It was about opening up their world a little wider, seeing life through a different lens, and reminding the girls that nothing is impossible.

The girls arrived dressed for the occasion in colourful dresses, each one wearing a red rose pinned delicately into their hair. The studio instantly came alive with excitement, curiosity, and bright smiles.

We started with the basics of ballet, learning first and second position, practicing pliés at the barre, pointing our toes, working on our posture, and moving our arms gracefully through the room There were little turns, tiny jumps, and plenty of laughter as everyone settled into the rhythm of the class.

One leg stretched onto the barre, chins lifted proudly, arms floating softly through the air as the girls embraced every new movement. The room was filled with energy, joy, and self-expression as they encouraged one another and stepped outside of their comfort zones.

To make the experience even more memorable, Tristan surprised the girls with a small souvenir to remember the special day, a simple but meaningful gesture that left many smiles shining a little brighter.

At The Little Optimist, we believe in creating moments that young people will carry with them forever, moments that inspire confidence, courage, creativity, and hope. This was one of those moments. 💙🥳

Thank you to Mark and Tristan Hartmann who continue to support The Little Optimist.
