Bishop Lavis Paradise was lovingly run by Mrs Brikkels for over 20 years.
She ran a weekly feeding scheme for children in the surrounding community.
As Mrs Brikkels is well into her 80’s, it was time for a younger generation to take the reins.
In 2015 Marcelle and Grant Lamour, regular volunteers and fund raisers for Bishop Lavis Paradise, were quick to selflessly take on the task and further expanding the feeding program to wherever they are needed in the Cape.
Marcelle and Grant run the kitchen from their home in Panorama – all cooking, storage and preparation happens in their home, in the garage, in the courtyard – anywhere they can find space.
A regular sized kitchen is just not big enough for them to produce the volumes they want to provide to communities in need.
The Little Optimist Trusts product sponsor, The Excellence Group & Their Spotlight Joinery jumped on board to help solve their space problem.
When a practically new kitchen became available – they kindly offered to donate and install it at BLP.
The kitchen was deconstructed and is now awaiting installation at the Lamours.
The Lamour’s are knocking out a wall to further extend the area where they will house the kitchen.
This space will allow them to keep cooking, storage and packaging in 1 area, and feed many more desperate people.
We look forward to installation day – watch this space !
