As the clock struck 9am on the 9th of October 2021, the Excellence Team arrived at Holy Cross, Children’s Home ready for Phase 1 of our project, full of energy, laughs and optimism. Together with our team, we started our day with painting the undercoat of the Bernada House at Holy Cross Children’s Home. What initially seemed like a daunting task, as it was a big house with lots of painting to be done – was completed at the end of the day! The Excellence Volunteer Team headed by Shanelle September meant business as they started painting their assigned area.
During our lunch break, the Team played some ball games with the kids and braaied some sausage for the boerewors rolls for the kids! This was of course followed by some sweet treats. Thank you to the Excellence Team! Great fun was had and new friendships were made.
The last surprise the kids were really excited about- The gift of DVD’s brought such a smile to their faces! They couldn’t wait to watch their favorite chosen DVD!
What a special day we had! Our hearts are full and happy and most importantly we had achieved our goal of completing the first phase of our project (painting the undercoat). Watch this space – we will keep you posted on the progress of phase 2 (completing the painting).
