Charity Sailing Day Report

With a light breeze and plenty of sunshine, The Little Optimist was in perfect condition to meet our 30 special guests and introduce them to the magic of sailing.

Our social partners, Reach for a Dream and the 9 Miles Project both brought a group of youngsters for a sailing experience at The Little Optimist base at Zeekoevlei. Greg introduced them all to The Little Optimist and the story behind his great adventure, followed by a sailing lesson from Mornay from the Zeekoevlei Sailing Centre. They all spent some time in the little Opis before going for a group sail on the bigger Saldanha yacht. They had a blast and for many it was the first time on a boat ever!

One of the VIP guests on the day was Thaakirah Matthews , a heart and brain surgery survivor. She also stars in the acclaimed movie, OPTIMIST, alongside Greg Bertish and bunch of other young survivors.  She came out to enjoy the day with her family and she was so proud to see herself on the big screen.

The afternoon was rounded off by a showing of the movie, OPTIMIST, with some movie treats and massive smiles and laughs.
